Ground Italian Sausage and Beef Bolognese
Spring TO RECIPE
ThisSpaghetti Bologneseis a hearty dinner that's ever a hit with kids and adults alike! Only 15 minutes of prep for this thick and flavorful meat sauce recipe!
Growing up, we had "pasta and cherry sauce" (every bit I liked to call it) aka spaghetti with marinara and ground beef about every week.
Well, my friends, this spaghetti bolognese is like the elevated version of pasta and blood-red sauce. It'due south still quick and easy, but instead of using a jarred sauce, nosotros're making our own marinara and we're throwing in a bit of salary for good measure. 😉
What is spaghetti bolognese?
Bolognese sauce is a thick and hearty tomato plant-based sauce made with ground meat and Italian seasonings.
Spaghettibolognese is spaghetti noodles served with the bolognese sauce. Information technology's a super filling, superdelicious dinner that is sure to be a crowd pleaser!
Ingredients
A few undercover ingredients take this spaghetti bolognese to a whole other level!
- Bacon– adds delicious smoky season. Bacon really adds a squeamish depth and richness to the sauce.
- Footing Beef and Italian Sausage– I love the flavour combination of beef and Italian sausage in this recipe, but feel costless to use only i if preferred.
- Onion, Carrot, and Celery– the classic veggie blend. Adds flavour, texture, and bonus! good for yous veggies that the kids will never know are in at that place!
- Garlic– adds that subtle nutty flavor.
- Dried Basil, Italian Seasoning, Ground Nutmeg, Salt, Pepper, and Cherry Pepper Flakes– a unproblematic but effective seasoning blend that adds but the right amount of flavour, sweetness, and oestrus.
- Red Wine and Craven Broth– thins out the sauce. This recipe only calls for 1/2 cup of wine, and then there's enough left to enjoy WITH the pasta. 😉
- Tomato Paste, Tomato Sauce, and Crushed Tomatoes – the base of operations for the bolognese sauce. The paste adds a really nice, rich lycopersicon esculentum flavor and the crushed tomatoes just a touch of texture!
- Balsamic Vinegar– adds a touch of tanginess that compliments the tomatoes.
- Spaghetti Noodles– for serving! Other noodles will piece of work likewise but spaghetti is a classic.
Feel free to supplant with scarlet wine with grape juice or more broth if you're serving this to kiddos!

Can you use fresh herbs?
Technically, you tin can use fresh herbs instead of dry, simply I don't recommend information technology. If you lot want to incorporate fresh herbs, I'd suggest using fresh basil as a garnish.
If you really want to utilize fresh as more than a garnish, you'll need one tablespoon of fresh herbs for every one teaspoon of dried.
